Class code 92215 – Driveway, Parking Area or Sidewalk – paving or repaving – rated on payroll or sub-costs
This classification applies to contractors engaged in the paving or repaving of parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and other ground supported asphalt or concrete construction. Code 92215 also contemplates the construction of ground supported concrete floors and walkways, etc. This classification contemplates lighter construction work and its use for heavier work such as buildings with floors below grade, foundations, streets and roads, airport runways and warming aprons, and non-ground supported floors should be avoided.
Code 92215 includes the installation of the asphalt, concrete or other paving materials and minor ground preparation work such as the leveling of the ground using hand tools. Major ground preparation work such as clearing right of ways, earth and rock excavation (code 94007), filling (code 94007), or grading work (code 95410) shall be separately classified and rated. Code 92215 contemplates the repair and repaving of ground supported work which falls within the scope of this classification. Class code 99321 – Street or Road Paving or Repaving, Surfacing or Resurfacing or Scraping – rated on payroll or sub-costs
This classification applies to contractors engaged in the paving or surfacing of new streets and roads - including highways.
Code 99321 contemplates the laying of the sub-base or flexible base on a previously graded surface, laying the stabilized base and the installation of the paving materials; normally asphalt or concrete.
Code 99321 also contemplates the following work, but only when performed by the paving contractor: finishing and trimming the shoulder, placing the curbs, erecting guard rails and fences, and painting safety lines or center stripes using a mechanical device. Specialty contractors, whose only responsibility on the job is one of the above operations, will be assigned to the appropriate contracting classification. For example, specialty contractors painting lines or stripes on streets and roads by hand or machine are separately classified to code 98304.
Note: The following shall be separately classified and rated: Clearing of right-of-way; Earth or rock excavation; Filling or grading of land; concrete construction
